OFFICE HOURS
At lunch during school or email me to set up a meeting for any other times.
I have been teaching at Canyon Hills High School for three years. I love teaching because I love to serve my community. My way of serving is to teach others life skills, encourage a passion for learning, and encourage awareness and action to also help our local community. I have a degree in microbiology and immunology from UCLA. I love the sciences and the medical field. This is why I am always excited to share my knowledge of these subjects with my students!
Some of my interests include painting, drawing, reading, wood working, cooking and sewing. I love to learn new things. I am always keeping busy trying to learn new things, and finding people or videos to teach me. I am also an avid backpacker and love spending my time off backpacking in the Sierra's and Cascades with my husband. One of our dream backpacking trips was to hike from the Mexican border, up California, Oregon and Washington, all the way to the Canadian border. We fulfilled this dream several years ago. It was an amazing experience.
In my classroom there are several things that are extremely important to me. First and foremost is class climate. I prioritize building relationships with my students. I want them to feel safe and valued in my classroom. This means nurturing mutual respect for everyone in the classroom. In addition, I think that science is best learned by doing. Because of this I following a lab based, inquiry based format. Students work with each other to solve real world problems, ask question and design solutions.
